Death is Among Us
More and more "hardcore" MMO are being created, a recently created one is Wizardry Online. Everything that gamers expect from a hardcore MMO is in this game, be it perma-death to intense open pvp, Wizardry Online has it. It is on the surface an Action Dungeon Crawler MMORPG, where the dungeons have deadly monsters and traps where to proceed from stage to stage you will need to do the story line quest. You can choose up to 4 classes, being the Thief, Warrior, Mage, and Cleric. There is a cross-class system that allows players to have a unique character. A player could make a Mage and cross-class it into a thief to use the elements and hide in the shadows. There are many different variety to combo up two classes which makes it great for players who crave unique character customization. A game with Perma-Death screams hardcore, although you do have a chance of revival which you could increase the chance by offering items. Perma-Death and Player versus Player in an open world environment (which includes in town), what can get more intense than that? You can even accidentally kill your own best buddy, as projectiles do not track to their targets, which in a pvp environment, is very dangerous. In order to balance out the PVP, there are penalties for player killing, the player killer will be marked as criminals and players may put a bounty on a criminal's head so that a stronger player or group of players may give the criminal a taste of perma-death themselves. Players who are dead or in the stage of revival may be looted, but the players who loot will be deemed as criminals for a short period of time. Although this game seems amazing for hardcore gamers, the game has many flaws such as repetitive dungeons, boring story line, and generic dungeons for a modern game. Wizardry Online, although there is high risk when playing it there is very little to be rewarded for the risk.
