A popular trend that seems to be floating around the game industry lately, is  the free to play (F2P) option. Joining the ranks of the F2P revolution, is the massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPG) game, The Exiled Realm of Arborea (TERA). TERA was released May 1, 2012 by the En Masse Entertainment. When released, TERA was said to take MMO's to a whole new level. Rather than having the auto attacking cliche combat, the gameplay consists of enhanced aiming, dodging and tactical timing to create intense and rewarding combat. True action combat is the main draw, meaning fighting is based on actual player skill not gear grinding or stats.

En Masse has decided to implement multiple new challenges for the F2P release, on February 5th, 2013. A 3v3 arena and a new dungeon will be available. The arena, Champions' Skyring is being put out with a set of actually balanced rules. You are only able to have one healer and you can't have more than one person being the same class in your group. The new Dungeon, Crucible of flame will be available to  F2P players and Veterans.

People who've already bought Tera, or do so before the relaunch, will be granted Founder status. Founder TERA players will be receiving extra perks, even if they are unsubscribed. They will receive the ingame title "Veteran"  and 8 character slots rather than 2, if they were original players players who cancelled their monthly payments . The Gold cap is also unlimited for Founder TERA players, subscribed or unsubscribed.  People who are subscribed will also receive the "Veteran" title along with many other rewards.

TERA's political system will also receive an additional feature. Players that belong to a guild can enter into an alliance with this feature and profit from useful bonuses in the community. The three alliances are enemies of one another and continually fight each other for dominance on the respective game server.

The F2P option in TERA will greatly increase the popularity of the game as a whole, bringing in many new players as well as many veterans. For the monthly fee of absolutely nothing, it seems there's never been a better time to try out En Masse's MMO.
