CAN GAMES BE SAVED WITH DLC

Roughly a year ago the game Mass Effect 3 released to an astounding amount of criticism, mainly having to do with the ending of the series. The fan outrage was unbelievable with message boards and forums lighting up in anger over how Bioware destroyed the great series. The fact that people found the game itself fun and their main problem was the ending was a little ridiculous as they blamed the ending on ruining the whole series for them and making it unplayable. This got so bad that people tried to create a group(that managed to raise $50,000) because they thought that the money would go towards a new ending. Now this outcry began to die down as people got used to the game and got over it, but still a sort of negative energy continued to hang over the game. It was maintained that nothing could save the series and that no one should play it again. Bioware heard all these criticisms and decided to try and fix it. They created an extended ending cut that added more backstory and explained what happened to all the characters.
This release cheered some up but the aura of negativity continued to exist. Now many had given up hope that they would ever enjoy this game again, as Bioware continued to make new dlc the ending was never addressed and people let it slip to the back of their minds. Fast forward to a exactly a year after the original release of the game. There had been a dlc being teased for months but no one knew what it was about, nothing was announced. The out of nowhere it released, and it was called the Citadel. Now Bioware has seemed to have done one of the smartest things in the industry, they listened to their fans. Fans had complained about not having their old squadmates and the game being too serious, and this dlc just flipped everything upside down.
This wonderful addition to Mass Effect is definitely my favourite DLC in the series and perhaps of all the games I have played. The geniuses of Bioware created a hilarious romp through areas, new and old and changed the whole tone of the game. The entire game is based upon a huge war and always serious but this takes a step back, and makes fun of it all. For some reason in the middle of a war you are given your own apartment and told to relax, so what does the hero of the galaxy do? He goes to the casino and plays the wingman for his turian(A type of alien) buddy and even has a huge party at his place. This large expansion, which ends up being roughly seven hours, is just filled with inside jokes from throughout the whole series and even mentions memes from the internet.
This whole DLC has the feeling of a good buddy cop movie such as lethal weapon, while also keeping a large amount of dark humor and action. This final addition to the series really hit home with me as I have been playing Mass Effect since the original xbox release and although I may have not been a huge fan of the ending throughout my time with the games I have become attached to the characters and even get a little teary when one of my crew dies in a horrible way. In the end Bioware has done an amazing job turning around the fan criticisms and seem to really care about their fans with such a well done fan service. Although Bioware may have started to fumble the ball in the beginning they managed to get a grip and run it in for a successful and thrilling touchdown. I extremely enjoyed this and laughed to the point of tears many times throughout this wonderful adventure and I would just throw money at my screen if I found out that they were making a full game in this theme. As it is being said all over the internet that this is the real ending to Mass Effect and has really hit home with the many loyal fans of the series.
