Video game companies have been creating remakes of old games for years now. Sometimes they end up being great redesigns, while other times they lack the nostalgia factor. Games like 007 Goldeneye for the Wii had a great single player that stayed somewhat true to the classic N64 version but lacked significantly in the multiplayer region. I remember as a kid spending hours playing multiplayer with my friends—and still do to this day. Whereas other games like the Super Mario 64 remake for the Nintendo DS was well, let's just say YAHOO!!
Some people say that the classics should stay classic and not be remade and others say that remakes are a gimmick so that old gamers will buy new hardware because it features remakes of classics. However, I love seeing old games on new consoles. Not only for the fact that they look significantly better but we get to see new ideas come to life that the old creators did not think about, or could not include in their versions due to the technology.
Nintendo will be releasing Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D for the 3ds in the summer. Now some people believe that this may be to early considering the original release was only three years ago on the Wii. However, for others (like myself) it's a game to look forward too. Considering some people do not have a Wii and did not get a chance to play the original version it will be awesome to get a copy on the 3DS. Going back even further when the original Donkey Kong Country on the SNES was released, I remember how great that game was. Hopefully the 3DS version will bring me back to my childhood.
