The video game industry has tons of violent video games with people who think that video games causes violence. I disagree on this topic. There are many people who think video games are violent because of what it games portrayed. Many reasons include guns, sexual content and strong languages in the games. Today, the video game industry is trying to push for better education about ratings on video games. I think this is a great thing to do because the parent should be the one controlling who should be the one playing the game.
Parents blame video games because they are related to violence. I disagree on this. This topic has been a huge controversial topic last year due to the shootings of a primary school. Video games were quickly blamed because the shooter played Mass Effect and other shooters. The industry had a day to talk to Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States concerning about video game violence. There were studies shows that video game was not a connection to the shootings at all.
I agree on video game industry where they are pushing for education on video game ratings where parents will be aware on what their kids are playing. This means there will be fewer kids playing violence video games with guns and sexual content. (Plus less kids on Xbox LIVE YEAHYEAH) This is great because it will give parents knowledge about the game before they purchase for their children to play.
The article says that "games do influence our youth on their perception of what is acceptable," said from a parent serving in a parents committee. I kind of agreed on this because games do give an influence of how someone will become but in my head there are some disagreements of what she says.
If parents want to have control of what their children is playing, they should read what the ESRB rating says because it is their choice of what their kids are playing. I see what the ESRB is trying to promote video game safely on video game products. It may work but it won't spread out why game are not the reason for being violent.
